Casual Youth Worker

One KX is Central YMCA’s centre of excellence, for young people based in the heart of King’s Cross. We are a visionary hub – the first of its kind – for young people to connect, collaborate and create, through creativity, science and technology, inspiring them to become leaders in their communities. Y Touring Theatre Company, resident at One KX, uses a rich mix of live performance and digital technology to engage audiences in an informed debate around the outcomes of the latest scientific research.
Our varied programme of activities aims to encourage young people to reach higher, gain new skills, improve those they already have and feel comfortable working with professionals, in professional environments. We want to open young people up to a wide range of career choices, educational pathways and training opportunities that they may not have previously considered.
The role of Casual Youth Worker is to support the running of the Youth Drop-in Evenings and targeted programme of activities at One KX. The Drop-in Evenings run two nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday) the One KX café space is transformed into a place where young people can hang out and relax in an engaging and stimulating environment. There is an additional young women’s only night on Friday evenings.
The targeted youth programmes which run throughout the year at One KX and Y Touring are focused toward the arts, science and technology whilst upholding Central YMCA’s vision mission and brand. Projects have included App and website design, film making, music production, photography, Go-Kart Maintenance and much more.
We are looking for creative and dynamic Casual Youth Workers with at least a JNC Level 1 Diploma in Youth Work or equivalent and experience of working with young people in participatory arts to help deliver our exciting evening and holiday programme throughout the year.
You will need to be a team player but able to work under your own initiative and will have knowledge of standard health and safety procedures including standard child protection procedures.
